You've probably already seen our facade on Instagram with its large bay windows and its Virginia creeper overflowing everywhere. I often take photos for you but, strangely, I never go down lower than the pontoon because, until today, it was frankly not pretty with this plaster that is wearing away and these drips that come from the stagnant water flowing from under the pontoon. It was my man who had the idea of the zelliges (normal, he is the one who takes care of the garden so everything outside is his responsibility). After looking around, I fell for those of Aït Manos for several reasons. Firstly because they are very beautiful and the range of colors offered is really pretty. Then because they are 100% made in Morocco, according to traditional methods that have been passed down from craftsman to craftsman for more than ten centuries (and I like when things have a story). Then because their founders, Ghalia Sebti and Tawfik Bennani are adorable and ultra-professional… In short, everything seduced us. Installing them outside is a very good option because they are water-resistant (so bathrooms are perfect too, saunas and exteriors of all kinds. As for the kitchen, they are placed as a splashback, not a worktop). All that remained was to choose the color and, as the house has a vacation feel and green suits it perfectly with its black frames and shutters, we went with a very light celadon. We really like the result with these heavenly colors. Come on, I'll show you.

I'll start with the result, and here it is, the underside of our pontoon leading to our house, decorated with zelliges.

And that was before. I didn't even see the thing anymore, even though it wasn't pretty at all.

The Aït Manos zelliges arrive directly from Morocco, carefully arranged in their small boxes.

This is the color we chose, but from one tile to another, there are lots of different shades and that's what's beautiful, obviously.

Then someone experienced in laying zelliges came and glued them down. It wasn't always easy because the edges are quite irregular, and the sizes can vary slightly. It's a handcrafted process, and again, that's what makes it so beautiful.

That same evening the result was almost perfect. All that was missing was the joints planned two days later.

We chose a stone color for the joints, which harmonizes with our facade. Then a wipe with a sponge...

And there you have it! Here's the result!

Here is the Aït Manos color range. Needless to say, the pink ones caught my eye, but not for a facade. We hesitated with these, unglazed ones. But I really like the shine of the zellige.
