The Aït Manos house

Behind Maison Aït Manos is a cosmopolitan couple with a passion for Moroccan crafts. Ghalia and Tawfik met in 1990 on the shores of the Mediterranean.

In common, a mix of cultures against a Moroccan backdrop. With his Austrian and Moroccan origins, raised largely abroad by diplomat parents, Tawfik has a deep attachment to Morocco and its decorative arts, which his artistic spirit combined with Germanic rigor recognizes as unique in the world. Ghalia, for her part, was raised as much in respect of the traditions of Fez, where her paternal family originates, as in the rigor of a Lyonnais mother raising her 4 children with a sense of effort and constant perfectionism. Around this passion for Morocco and its light, its aesthetics and its crafts, they founded together in 1995 the Maison Aït Manos, an allegory of their love for zellige. Since then, they have been making it, sublimating it, adapting it and modernizing it without ever distorting its ancestral manufacturing process.

An innovative vision and international distribution

From the very beginning, Aït Manos has been innovating: it offers a pre-assembled zellige that is light, thin and easy to install , making export possible without compromising on craftsmanship. This technical advancement quickly gained international appeal.

In 1998, the Maison de l'Artisan du Maroc spotted her and supported her participation in the Coverings show in the United States—a launching pad for continued global recognition.

Our commitments: promises of authenticity and sustainability

Excellence & Know-how

Excellence is the measure of every creation. The master craftsmen of Fez, true guardians of a millennia-old art, shape the material entirely by hand with a precision and nobility that gives Aït Manos zellige a unique aura.

Heritage & Transmission

Aït Manos has been upholding the heritage of Moroccan craftsmanship for over thirty years. Each gesture is part of a centuries-old tradition, where the hand of the artisan perpetuates ancestral knowledge.

Ethics and commitment

At Aït Manos, each zellige is born from a simple and respectful relationship with the material. We work the earth according to its rhythm. With measured and sustainable gestures.

CSR

Aït Manos takes concrete action for the well-being of its teams and its environment. We ensure compliance with safety and social protection standards, safe and fair working conditions, and the promotion of local skills.
