The Aït Manos house
Behind Maison Aït Manos is a cosmopolitan couple with a passion for Moroccan crafts. Ghalia and Tawfik met in 1990 on the shores of the Mediterranean.
In common, a mix of cultures against a Moroccan backdrop. With his Austrian and Moroccan origins, raised largely abroad by diplomat parents, Tawfik has a deep attachment to Morocco and its decorative arts, which his artistic spirit combined with Germanic rigor recognizes as unique in the world. Ghalia, for her part, was raised as much in respect of the traditions of Fez, where her paternal family originates, as in the rigor of a Lyonnais mother raising her 4 children with a sense of effort and constant perfectionism. Around this passion for Morocco and its light, its aesthetics and its crafts, they founded together in 1995 the Maison Aït Manos, an allegory of their love for zellige. Since then, they have been making it, sublimating it, adapting it and modernizing it without ever distorting its ancestral manufacturing process.
