You are architects, designers, industrialists... here is a date to mark in your diary: on October 10 and 11, 2023 , the ninth edition of the Rendez-vous de la Matière + fair(e) will be held at the Atelier Richelieu , 60 rue de Richelieu, 75002 Paris , a professional event dedicated to innovative and artisanal materials for architecture and design.
You will have the opportunity to meet Ghalia Sebti , Tawfik Bennani and the Aït Manos team, artisan creators of zellige , who have been putting this age-old know-how at the service of architects for 30 years and supporting them by creating exclusive, aesthetic and virtuous projects with them!
The Art of Zellige: Between Tradition and Innovation
Zellige, an ancient terracotta mosaic art, has its roots in Morocco's rich and diverse history. This artisanal technique involves assembling small, colorful pieces to create simple or complex geometric patterns, all with meticulous precision.
Ghalia Sebti, Tawfik Bennani, and their team at Aït Manos have made this tradition their passion and their profession. Their zellige creations are much more than simple works of art. 100% made in Morocco, born from its water, its earth, and the hands of the maâlems, each piece is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, combining traditional techniques with contemporary creative ideas, creating unique, timeless, and resolutely contemporary objects.
The Rendez-vous de la Matière + fair(e): A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Creativity
The Rendez-vous de la Matière + fair(e) event is a must-attend event for design and architecture enthusiasts. It offers a unique platform where creators, artisans, architects, and designers come together to explore new possibilities and push the boundaries of creativity.
It's a journey of more than 700 m2 within the Atelier Richelieu, a private mansion and former printing works bathed in zenithal light on two levels in the heart of the Bourse/Palais Royal district. The space is designed to connect manufacturers and artisans, all gathered around today's architecture. A relationship of continuity has been deliberately established between each thanks to an immersive scenography that stimulates the imagination, reveals the potential of the materials and highlights the excellence of the exhibiting designers.
