Architects, designers, industrialists... here's a date to mark in your diary: on October 10 and 11, 2023, at theAtelier Richelieu, 60 rue de Richelieu, 75002 Paris- the ninth edition of Rendez-vous de la Matière + fair(e)a trade event dedicated to innovative, artisanal materials for architecture and design.
You'll have the chance to meet Ghalia Sebti, Tawfik Bennani and theAït Manos team of zellige craftsmen, who have been working with architects for 30 years to create exclusive, aesthetic and virtuous projects using this age-old know-how!
The Art of Zellige: Between Tradition and Innovation
Zellige, the ancient art of terracotta mosaics, has its roots in Morocco's rich and diverse history. This artisanal technique involves assembling small colored pieces to create simple or complex geometric patterns, all with meticulous precision.
Ghalia Sebti, Tawfik Bennani and their team at Aït Manos have made this tradition their passion and their profession. Their zellige creations are much more than mere works of art. 100% made in Morocco, born of its water, its earth and the hand of the maâlems, each piece is the fruit of meticulous craftsmanship, combining traditional techniques with contemporary creative ideas, creating unique, timeless objects that are resolutely in tune with the times.
Les Rendez-vous de la Matière + fair(e): A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Creativity
Rendez-vous de la Matière + fair(e) is a must-attend event for lovers of design and architecture. It offers a unique platform where creators, craftsmen, architects and designers come together to explore new possibilities and push back the boundaries of creativity.
The 700 m2 exhibition space is housed in the Atelier Richelieu, a two-storey private mansion and former printing works bathed in zenithal light in the heart of the Bourse/Palais Royal district. The space is designed to bring together industrialists and craftsmen, all united around today's architecture. A relationship of continuity has been deliberately established between each of them, thanks to an immersive scenography that stimulates the imagination, reveals the potential of materials and highlights the excellence of the exhibiting designers.
