The Aït Manos house

Behind Maison Aït Manos, a cosmopolitan couple in love with Moroccan arts and crafts. Ghalia and Tawfik met in 1990 on the shores of the Mediterranean.

What they have in common is a melting pot of cultures against a Moroccan backdrop. With his Austrian and Moroccan origins, raised largely abroad by diplomatic parents, Tawfik has a deep attachment to Morocco and its decorative arts, which his artistic spirit combined with Germanic rigor, recognize as unique in the world. Ghalia, for her part, was raised with respect for the traditions of Fez, where her father's family originated, and with the rigor of a mother from Lyon, raising her 4 children with a sense of effort and permanent perfectionism. Their passion for Morocco and its light, aesthetics and craftsmanship led them to found Maison Aït Manos in 1995, an allegory of their love for zellige. Since then, they've been making it, sublimating it, adapting it and modernizing it, without ever betraying its ancestral manufacturing process.

An innovative vision and international reach

From the outset, Aït Manos has been an innovator, offering pre-assembled zellige that is light, thin and easy to lay, making it possible to export without compromising craftsmanship. This technical breakthrough quickly won over the international market.

In 1998, the Maison de l'Artisan du Maroc spotted her and supported her participation in the Coverings trade show in the United States - a launching pad for continued worldwide recognition.

Our commitments: promises of authenticity and sustainability

Excellence & Know-how

Excellence is the measure of every creation. The master craftsmen of Fez, true guardians of an age-old art, shape the material entirely by hand with a precision and nobility that give Aït Manos zellige a unique aura.

Inheritance & Transmission

Aït Manos has been upholding the heritage of Moroccan craftsmanship for over thirty years. Each gesture is part of an age-old tradition, in which the craftsman's hand perpetuates ancestral knowledge.

Ethics and commitment

At Aït Manos, each zellige is born of a simple, respectful relationship with the material. We work the earth at its own pace. With measured, sustainable gestures.

CSR

Aït Manos takes concrete action for the well-being of its teams and its environment. We ensure compliance with safety and social protection standards, safe and fair working conditions, and the development of local skills.

AIT MANOS zelliges are made with 98% natural Moroccan clay and 2% water and glaze. The firing process is carried out in gas-fired kilns using only clean energy.
