You've probably already caught a glimpse on Instagram our facade with its large bay windows and overflowing Virginia creeper. I often take pictures of it, but strangely enough, I never go any lower than the pontoon because, until today, it's been a real pain with the plaster wearing away and the water dripping from under the pontoon. It was my man who came up with the idea of zelliges (he's in charge of the garden, so everything outside is his responsibility). After looking around a bit, I fell in love with the ones atAït Manos for several reasons. First of all, they're beautiful and the range of colors is really nice. Secondly, because they're made 100% in Morocco, using traditional methods that have been handed down from craftsman to craftsman for over ten centuries (and I love it when things have a history). Then because their founders, Ghalia Sebti and Tawfik Bennani, are adorable and ultra-professional... In short, everything appealed to us. Installing them outside is a very good option, as they're water-resistant (so bathrooms are perfect too, as are saunas and all kinds of exteriors). As for the kitchen, they're for the credenza, not the worktop). All that remained was to choose the color, and since the house looks like it's going on vacation and green suits it perfectly with its black frames and shutters, we opted for a light celadon. We love the result with these heavenly colors. Let me show you.

I'll start with the result, and here's the underside of our pontoon leading to our home, decorated with zelliges.

And that was before. I couldn't even see the thing anymore, even though it wasn't pretty at all.

Aït Manos zelliges arrive directly from Morocco, carefully packed in their little boxes.

Here's the color we chose, but from one tile to the next, there are lots of different shades, and that's what's so beautiful, of course.

Then someone with experience of laying zelliges came along and glued them in place. Not always easy, as the edges are quite irregular and the sizes can vary slightly. It's all done by hand and, once again, that's the beauty of it.

That evening, the result was almost perfect. All that was missing were the joints, which were to be installed two days later.

We chose a stone color for the joints, to match our façade. Then a quick wipe down...

And presto! Here's the result!

Here's the Aït Manos color rangeNeedless to say, the pinks caught my eye, but not for a facade anyway. We hesitated with these unglazed ones. But I really like the shine of zellige.
